Breast Cancer Screening

A Journey of Knowledge

"Breast cancer screening is a journey — and it starts with knowing your own body."

01.Community Awareness

"The journey starts in the community."

Awareness reduces fear and encourages women to take the first step. It is important to know that breast cancer can occur even when you feel well.

  • Finding cancer early improves outcomes
  • Screening is about prevention, not illness
  • Support from family and friends matters
Community Awareness

02.Self-Breast Awareness (SBE)

"Self-breast checks help women know what is normal for them."

Self-breast awareness builds confidence and helps you notice changes over time. It is about knowing your body, not diagnosing yourself.

  • Know what is normal for you
  • Builds body confidence
  • Does not replace professional screening

03.Nurse-led Clinical Examination

"This is the key screening step."

A trained nurse performs a systematic, clinical breast examination. This step is respectful, private, confidential, and designed for women who feel well.

04.Mammography (if indicated)

"Imaging is used when it adds value."

Mammography is recommended when a nurse finds something concerning or for specific age/risk groups. Using it selectively improves accuracy.

  • Avoids unnecessary tests
  • Improves accuracy of diagnosis
  • Ensures timely access for those who need it

05.Further Tests (if needed)

"Only a small number of women need further tests."

Some women may need ultrasound, biopsy, or specialist review. However, most women screened will be reassured and will not have cancer.

  • Ultrasound or Biopsy may be required
  • Specialist review for complex cases
  • Early referral ensures better outcomes
Further Tests (if needed)

"Know your body. See a nurse.
Use imaging wisely."
